Dr. Adam Woods is Assistant Director of the Center for Cognitive Aging and Memory (CAM) in the McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida. He is the Director of the Neurophysiology and Neuromodulation Research Core in the CAM and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at UF. Dr. Woods is a cognitive neuroscientist with expertise in non-invasive brain stimulation, cognitive aging and neuroimaging. Dr. Woods' research focuses on discovery and application of novel non-invasive brain stimulation interventions for enhancing cognitive function in adults with and without neurodegenerative disease. This includes work in a variety of comorbid conditions that may accelerate the brain aging process, including HIV, stroke, obesity, and surgery. He is also the PI of the largest phase III RCT using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), the ACT study as well as several Phase II tDCS trials focused on cognitive aging, dementia, and chronic pain. In addition, Dr. Woods is a leader in the field of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and runs an international training workshop for this technology, held in the past in NYC, Singapore, Gainesville, Barcelona and other locations each year. He has trained over 750 researchers and clinicians around the world to safely and appropriately use tDCS.
